Stephanie Bliss and Carly Spratley; mother and daughter head the team here at Charney Pet Care Centre. Stephanie first opened the centre over 30 years ago when Carly was just eight years old. Carly has grown up surrounded by the families dogs, horses and other animals! Unsurprisingly Carly is also passionate about caring for animals and joins her Mum campaigning their Japanese Spitz at dog shows all over the country. In 2009 Carly trained to become a chiropractor with the intention of completing a post graduate course in animal chiropractic. Carly is now a registered chiropractor and a qualified Veterinary chiropractor and as well as running Charney with her mum, she also runs her own veterinary chiropractic business Faringdon Veterinary Chiropractic
At Charney we strongly believe that looking after animals is a very important and responsible career. All of our centre staff are given in house training and all senior staff have completed specific animal care training courses so they are experts in caring for your pets.
The Charney story………
Stephanie Bliss moved to Ivy Cottage in the early eighties. When the family arrived it was just a house with a plot of land to build her dream business, her own boarding kennels. This had been years in the planning and now a suitable place to start the business had been found.
Then the work began! Steph continued to run her already established dog grooming business from the house while Charney Pet Care Centre was being built. Then eighteen months after moving to the site the centre opened it’s doors for business. In the very beginning the pet care centre comprised of a reception area, grooming salon, purpose built housing for 15 dogs, a food preparation room and exercise area.
Over the years the pet care centre has gone from strength to strength and it now has a license to house 60 dogs. We are very lucky to have two large, fully enclosed grass dog paddocks for exercising, 6 acres of fully fenced fields for long walks and a set of agility equipment to add variation to the dogs exercise time. Our doggy day care facility has recently opened providing an open plan area for dogs staying with us for short periods while owners are at work or out for the day. Professional dog grooming is available in our onsite salon with Sarah and Lisa who are both City and Guilds qualified. We have a separate area for cat accommodation with individual chalets that have heated beds, individual covered outdoor play areas, overlooking an ornamental duck pond! Our reception area has a pet shop that stocks a variety of dog foods such as Nature’s Menu frozen raw food, Royal Canin, James Wellbeloved, Dr John’s and Pedigree complete dried foods. We have a huge selection of beds, collars, leads, toys, harnesses and grooming products for your dog. There is also a plentiful range of food, bedding and accessories for cats and small animals.
